Residents of White House Road in Ridgeway were understandably concerned after learning that railroad repairs scheduled for November 11 could block access to their homes for what was initially described as a two-day closure.

And the suggested parking solution wasn't exactly reassuring. Residents say a railroad representative told them to park along Route 220 — where parking is illegal and could result in their vehicles being towed.

But there's an update, and apparently the situation isn't quite as bad as first feared.

Ridgeway Supervisor Travis Pruitt has provided clarification on the schedule.

According to Pruitt, the work and road closure will begin at 9 a.m. November 11, with the road expected to reopen by 1 p.m. the same day.

Pruitt also says arrangements will be made to accommodate school bus traffic and emergency vehicles. He added that the closure should not create problems for shift workers, including those working the 7, 8, 2 and 3 o'clock shifts.

The railroad is also updating its closure signage to make the information clearer for residents.

That's certainly better news for White House Road residents. A four-hour closure is a whole lot different from being told to plan for two days away from your driveway!

And perhaps the biggest improvement is that residents can now plan accordingly without wondering whether their next parking stop will be at the towing company's lot.

UPDATE: White House Road is expected to reopen by 1 p.m. November 11, according to Supervisor Travis Pruitt.
