— Something was lighting up the darkness over Martinsville early Sunday morning, and at least one eyewitness says it wasn't making the kind of noise you'd expect from a helicopter.

Star News received a report of a mysterious light spotted near the Dick & Willie Trail around 2 a.m. Sunday.

According to the eyewitness, whatever was moving through the night sky didn't sound like a helicopter. Could it have been a drone? Something else flying overhead? Or just another case of what in the world was THAT?

Right now, there are more questions than answers. No official identification of the object has been confirmed, and there's no shortage of possibilities when it comes to unexplained lights in the night sky.

NOW IT'S YOUR TURN, MARTINSVILLE!

Did you see the mysterious light around 2 a.m. Sunday morning? Were you near the Dick & Willie Trail? Did you capture any photos or video?

Star News wants to hear from you!

Drop your sighting in the comments or send us a message. Because around here, if something strange is flying over Martinsville in the middle of the night, you can bet somebody's got a camera — and somebody else has a theory! 👀

Mystery drone? Aircraft? Something else? You tell us!
