UPDATE | A woman is facing a DUI charge after a crash involving a Henry County Public Schools bus Thursday afternoon on Old Leaksville Road at Farmbrook Road.

The call came in at approximately 3:30 p.m.

Virginia State Police told Luis Romero that the driver of the Honda Civic involved was charged with driving under the influence and transported to a hospital.

Ben Boone, Henry County Public Schools assistant superintendent of operations and administrative services, spoke with Romero at the scene and confirmed there were no major injuries reported among the students.

At least two students were evaluated at the scene by the Henry County Department of Public Safety.

Boone declined to provide a specific number of students who may have been injured, saying that it was important to share accurate information.

School administration also arranged for another bus to transport students whose parents were unable to pick them up at the scene.

“Staff did great, but the kids did excellent,” Boone said. “So, I want to praise the children and the staff that came.”

The Ridgeway District Volunteer Fire Department and the Henry County Sheriff’s Office also responded to the scene.
