Vehicle Crashes Into Occupied Building in Huddleston; One Person Taken to Hospital

HUDDLESTON, Va. — A vehicle crashed into an occupied structure in the Huddleston area this morning, prompting a response from Forest Fire Department Rescue 5 and other Special Operations Command units.

According to the Forest Fire Department, Rescue 5 responded as part of the Special Operations Command after receiving reports of the crash in Company 7’s response district.

One person was transported to a hospital with minor injuries.

Special Operations Command personnel assessed the structure and determined there was no damage to load-bearing components. Units then turned the scene over to the local fire company and a fire inspector.

Officials did not provide details about what caused the vehicle to strike the building or identify the driver.

The incident remains a reminder that a vehicle striking a building can create structural concerns even when the visible damage appears limited.
