M-HC EDC lines up August and September clinics for small businesses

Small-business owners in Martinsville and Henry County have several upcoming chances to get practical help with finances, funding preparation and business operations through the Martinsville-Henry County Economic Development Corporation.

The EDC lists a virtual Finance Your Business Series session for Aug. 26, 2026, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. The calendar also lists a Funding Readiness Clinic for Sept. 15 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the West Piedmont Higher Education Center in Martinsville. An Excel for Business class is scheduled for Aug. 17 and again Sept. 3 at the Patrick & Henry Community College MET Complex.

These are not announced grants or guaranteed financing awards. Their economic-development value is more practical: they give entrepreneurs a local route to strengthen budgets, understand available funding and prepare the records or applications that lenders, grant programs and procurement partners may require. The EDC says it also helps businesses with resources such as eVA registration, SWaM certification, marketing and project funding.

The calendar also lists the Sept. 3 deadline to apply for the RAMP Up Business Accelerator.
