Henry County and the City of Martinsville are accepting nominations for the 2026 Outstanding Military Veteran award, which recognizes a veteran whose service to the country carried over into service to the community.
Nomination forms are available on the Henry County and City of Martinsville websites and at the County Administrator's Office and the City Manager's Office. Completed forms are due at either office by 5 p.m. Monday, Oct. 26. Mailed nominations go to P.O. Box 7, Collinsville, VA 24078; questions can be directed to 276-634-4600.
The recipient will be announced during the Veterans Day service at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 11, at the HJDB Event Center. The county says the award began in 2009 and has honored 25 veterans so far.
