— Investigators are hoping a $10,000 reward will help put the brakes on a shooter who opened fire on a man inside his vehicle earlier this month.

According to the Fairfax County Police Department, officers were called around 10:25 a.m. September 12 to the 3500 block of Robert E. Lee Place in the Groveton area after reports of a shooting.

When officers arrived, they found an adult male suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was rushed to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Detectives determined the victim was driving through a parking lot when a suspect on foot opened fire, sending multiple rounds into the vehicle.

Despite being wounded, the victim continued driving through the parking lot before crashing into two unoccupied parked vehicles.

Police said the suspect then fled the area in a vehicle.

Now investigators are hoping someone's tip can help identify the shooter.

Crime Solvers of Fairfax County is offering up to $5,000 for information leading to an arrest. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives is adding another $5,000, bringing the potential reward to $10,000.
