The City of Eden is proud to recognize the retirement of two veteran police officers who have dedicated nearly three decades each to serving and protecting our community. Sergeant Jim Robertson is retiring after 29 years of dedicated service with the Eden Police Department. Most recently, Sgt. Robertson served as the Administrative Sergeant, where he supervised and coordinated the department’s School Resource Officers. Throughout his career, he also served as a certified D.A.R.E. (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) and G.R.E.A.T. (Gang Resistance Education and Training) instructor, making a lasting impact on countless students in our community. Prior to his assignment as Administrative Sergeant, Sgt. Robertson served as a patrol officer and as a Business District Officer. Officer Jay Parker is also retiring after 28 years of dedicated service to the City of Eden. Most recently, Officer Parker served as the School Resource Officer at Holmes Middle School. During his time as an SRO, he was a certified G.R.E.A.T. (Gang Resistance Education and Training) and D.A.R.E. (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) instructor. Before becoming a School Resource Officer, Officer Parker served on patrol for more than 20 years. During his patrol career, he also served as a K-9 handler. Both Sgt. Robertson and Officer Parker have devoted the majority of their careers to serving the citizens of Eden and helping make our community a safer place. Their dedication, professionalism, and commitment to the Eden Police Department will leave a lasting impact. As they begin this new chapter, both officers look forward to spending more time with their families and pursuing new opportunities in retirement.
