A popular brand of pepperoncini peppers has been voluntarily recalled amid an investigation into a potential pest contaminant allegedly found inside a jar.
G.L. Mezzetta Inc. issued the recall after a video circulating on social media appeared to show a pest inside a container of Mezzetta-brand peppers. A TikTok video posted Sept. 16 appeared to indicate a user had found a mouse among her pepperoncini, with the woman tagging the company and alleging there was a dead baby mouse in the jar. The company is pulling one specific lot: Mezzetta Golden Greek Pepperoncini Medium Heat, 32-ounce, with SKU number 10106328 and lot number 720106.
There had been no reports of illnesses or injuries connected to the product as of Sept. 26, when the recall was issued. Consumers who believe they bought the recalled peppers are asked not to eat them and to contact Mezzetta's customer support.
