An arrest has been made in Fayetteville after an early Sunday morning robbery in which a suspect impersonated a police officer, wearing equipment stolen earlier from a vacationing officer's home, according to the Fayetteville Police Department.

The robbery was reported just after 3:30 a.m. Sunday at a home in the 2000 block of Osceola Drive, north of the split of Rosehill Road at Ramsey Street. Police say a man dressed as a police officer knocked on the door and entered, then took money, with an arrest warrant listing $7 stolen. The warrant says the suspect, wearing a Fayetteville Police Department uniform, told a couple in the home he was working undercover while displaying a badge.

Investigators determined the suspect was wearing Fayetteville Police-issued equipment, including a ballistic vest displaying a departmental badge and a duty belt with a handgun inside a holster, which police say was stolen from a Fayetteville officer's residence while he was away on vacation. Jayden D. Boone, 27, of Fayetteville was charged with robbery with a deadly weapon, possession of stolen goods and impersonating a law enforcement officer, and is being held without bond in the Cumberland County Detention Center. Additional charges are pending, and he is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
