Henry County opens public hearing window for FY27 school and county budgets on April 20

Henry County officials have scheduled a public hearing on the proposed school and total county budgets for Monday, April 20, 2026, at 7:00 p.m. in the Summerlin Room at the county administration building in Martinsville.

The hearing follows the Board of Supervisors' April 7 budget work session, where members continued detailed review of the FY2026-27 plan and voted to advertise a real estate tax rate of $0.50 per $100 of assessed value.

For Martinsville-Henry households, the hearing is the key input point before final budget adoption, with funding decisions affecting schools, public safety staffing, and other county service levels.

County notices also state a separate public hearing on the proposed real estate tax rate is scheduled for April 28, 2026, during the Board's regular meeting.
