— A narcotics investigation in Rockingham County led to a search warrant, an arrest and three charges Tuesday — with authorities warning that more arrests could be coming.
On October 6, 2026, members of the Rockingham County Sheriff's Office Narcotics Division, Criminal Investigations Division and Special Response Team, along with officers from the Eden Police Department, executed a narcotics search warrant at a residence on Flat Rock Road in Reidsville.
According to the Sheriff's Office, the warrant was the result of an ongoing investigation into the alleged sale of illegal narcotics from the residence.
Authorities arrested 46-year-old Michael Travis Thaxton, who was charged with:
Felony possession of cocaine Felony possession of a firearm by a felon Probation violation
The Sheriff's Office said the investigation remains active and that additional charges against other individuals are expected.
Sheriff Billy Parker said the Sheriff's Office remains focused on investigating illegal narcotics activity throughout Rockingham County, regardless of whether the alleged operation involves a large-scale drug operation or drugs being sold from a residence.
The Sheriff's Office also thanked the Eden Police Department, Rockingham County EMS and 911 Communications for their assistance during Tuesday's operation.
For Thaxton, Tuesday's visit from law enforcement came with a search warrant, three charges and — according to investigators — potentially more company on the way.
The investigation isn't over yet.
