. — An active crime scene investigation is underway at Piedmont Memorial Cemetery, where multiple Guilford County Sheriff’s Office crime scene vans were spotted Thursday evening.

Police tape was placed near the cemetery’s front entrance as investigators worked at the site. Authorities have not yet disclosed what prompted the investigation or confirmed its specific focus.

The investigation comes after Greensboro City Councilwoman Crystal Black raised concerns about the cemetery in a recent Facebook post.

Black alleged that burials dating back to 2019 are connected to an active investigation and raised questions about whether the cemetery has been operating legally.

In her post, Black said multiple agencies are involved and advised people who have questions, including those who buried loved ones at the cemetery since 2019, to contact the Guilford County Attorney’s Office for information.

As of Thursday evening, authorities had not publicly confirmed the allegations, announced any arrests or clarified whether the investigation involves specific burials, cemetery operations or other potential violations.

The presence of investigators and crime scene vehicles indicates an active law enforcement response, but the underlying circumstances remain unclear.
