Drug Investigation Goes From April to a Search Warrant — And Fentanyl Shows Up
BEDFORD COUNTY, Va. — After months of investigation, authorities say a search of a Bedford County home turned up fentanyl and a large amount of cash. Apparently, April’s investigation wasn’t just sitting around collecting dust.
According to the Bedford County Sheriff’s Office, investigators began looking into Adrian Steptoe in April as part of a joint investigation involving the James River Regional Drug Task Force, the sheriff’s office, Virginia State Police and the Town of Bedford Police Department.
On Thursday, the investigation moved to Steptoe’s home, where the sheriff’s office VICE/Narcotics Unit and SWAT team joined Bedford police and state police in executing a search warrant.
Authorities reported finding fentanyl and a large amount of cash inside the residence.
The investigation involved multiple agencies working together over several months before the search warrant was carried out.
Officials have not provided additional details in the information released, including the specific charges Steptoe faces or whether additional arrests are expected.
As always, a search warrant and the discovery of suspected illegal drugs do not, by themselves, establish guilt. Any charges must be resolved through the court system.
