— An emergency power outage affecting the community will force FC Middle School to dismiss students at noon Tuesday, October 13, 2026, according to a notice from school principal Eric Seiy.
The school was notified by Appalachian Power (AEP) that an emergency outage would leave the building without electricity for the remainder of the day.
School officials said students were fed breakfast and would be served lunch before dismissal at 12 p.m.
Teachers and staff have been instructed to report to the Career Academy for the remainder of the day.
The school said it will continue communicating with AEP and keep families informed as updates become available.
Parents and guardians with questions can contact the FC Middle School main office at (276) 647-3841.
