Deputies say victim was forcibly removed from residence and assaulted; suspect taken into custody after multi-division operation.

REIDSVILLE, N.C. — A 41-year-old Reidsville man is facing multiple charges, including felony assault by strangulation and second-degree kidnapping, following an investigation into a reported domestic violence incident.

According to the Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a reported domestic disturbance and assault on October 10, 2026, at a residence on Dandys Lane in Reidsville.

Deputy K. Vernon and Corporal B. Rivera investigated the incident. Authorities said they learned that a female victim had allegedly been forcibly removed from the residence and assaulted. Investigators also determined that the victim was assaulted at another residence after being transported there.

The sheriff’s office said the incident had occurred several days before deputies responded.

Following the investigation, Deputy Vernon obtained warrants on October 12 for Michael Lee Stubblefield, 41, of Reidsville.

Stubblefield was charged with:

Felony assault by strangulation

Felony second-degree kidnapping

Misdemeanor crime of domestic violence

Multi-Division Operation Leads to Arrest

On October 12, members of the sheriff’s office Special Response Team (SRT), Narcotics Division and Criminal Investigations Division took Stubblefield into custody along Business 29 near Oregon Hill Road.

He was taken before a magistrate, where he was placed on a domestic violence hold, according to authorities. His first court appearance was scheduled for October 13, 2026.

Sheriff Billy Parker praised Deputy Vernon and Corporal Rivera for their investigation and credited the participating divisions with working together to take the suspect into custody.

The sheriff’s office also thanked the Criminal Justice Information Network (CJIN) for its assistance.

Authorities Encourage Reporting Domestic Violence

The Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office encourages anyone experiencing domestic violence, or anyone who knows someone who may be a victim, to report the situation to local law enforcement.

The charges against Stubblefield are allegations, and he is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
