— Apparently, not everyone was getting the kind of relaxation they advertised.
Thirteen people have been charged following a sweeping investigation into eight massage businesses that Roanoke County Police described as “illicit.” The investigation began after citizen complaints prompted authorities to take a closer look at the establishments.
On October 12, 2026, investigators served search warrants at all eight businesses. The operation resulted in charges against 11 people accused of maintaining a bawdy place and two men accused of frequenting one.
And this wasn't just a matter of officers checking the appointment book. Police say they seized three vehicles and more than $44,000 in cash during the investigation.
Authorities also reported locating victims at the establishments, removing them from the businesses and offering them resources. Police have not released further details about the alleged circumstances or the identities of those individuals.

More Questions Than Answers
While police have announced the charges, the investigation's details remain limited. Authorities have not publicly explained the specific allegations involving each business or disclosed additional information about the victims who were located.
The reported seizure of more than $44,000 and three vehicles adds another layer to an investigation that began with complaints from the public.
For eight businesses, the October 12 visits turned into something considerably more serious than a customer review.
Police say the investigation involved alleged illegal activity, but the charges are allegations—not convictions. All defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
