Garden City Elementary will be dismissed early Wednesday due to an ongoing water main break near Yellow Mountain Road in Roanoke, Roanoke City Public Schools announced.
The division said the elementary school will be dismissed at 11:15 a.m. Oct. 14, and that all students will receive lunch before dismissal. "We ask families to keep in mind that if their student normally attends daycare after school and the program is not open yet, they will need to pick up your student. Additionally, 21st Century After School programming has been canceled," the division said.
The division said it expects the school to reopen Thursday, Oct. 15, based on an update from the Western Virginia Water Authority, and that families will be contacted in the evening with more information.
