— An argument in Salem allegedly escalated into gunfire Friday afternoon, leaving one man wounded and another facing three felony charges.

According to Salem Police, officers responded around 1:22 p.m. Friday, October 23, to a shots-fired call in the 1600 block of Lynchburg Turnpike.

When officers arrived, they found a man suffering from a gunshot wound to his lower extremity. The injured man was transported to LewisGale Medical Center for treatment.

Police located the suspected shooter at the scene and determined the incident stemmed from an argument.

Apparently, this disagreement went well beyond raised voices and hurt feelings.

THREE FELONY CHARGES

Keeley Terrell Thacker, 30, of Salem, was arrested and charged with three felonies:

Use of a firearm in a felony

Malicious wounding

Discharging a firearm within city limits

Thacker is being held at the Roanoke County-Salem Jail.

What exactly sparked the argument was not detailed in the information released by police. But one thing is clear: an alleged dispute ended with a trip to the hospital for one man and serious criminal charges for another.
