Surry Community College has been recognized by the North Carolina Office of the State Auditor with the State Auditor's Award of Excellence for Fiscal Year 2025, an honor that recognizes exceptional financial management, accountability and commitment to the highest standards of public stewardship.

The award letter and certificate were sent to the college following its Financial Statement Audit for Fiscal Year 2025 after it met a rigorous set of criteria established by the State Auditor's office. Recipients must demonstrate timely financial reporting, no significant audit adjustments, no reportable audit findings and full cooperation throughout the audit process.

In the letter announcing the award, State Auditor Dave Boliek commended the college's financial leadership and staff, writing that the achievement reflects a culture that values responsible management of public resources and that the team's efforts have set the college apart among state agencies, universities and community colleges across North Carolina. SCC President Dr. David Shockley said the recognition reflects the dedication and professionalism of employees who work diligently to ensure the college remains a responsible steward of public resources. The college is headquartered at 630 South Main Street in Dobson and is currently registering students for Spring 2027 and Summer 2027 classes.
