10:24 p.m. THU - 11/5/26 - …HEAVY WAVE OF STORMS WORKING NE THROUGH GREATER LYNCHBURG…
While most of the area is quiet, a loud, torrential surge of lightning ⚡️ storms is moving NE through the Hill City of Lynchburg into Amherst, Nelson, Buckingham, Appomattox, Campbell, and Pittsylvania Counties at this late hour.
These storms have intensified in overall size and coverage and their lightning rates are elevated as well.
Main impacts will be very heavy downpours and isolated flooding of low spots. Lightning ⚡️ is a danger with ANY storm. If you can hear thunder, head indoors away from windows.
Avoid taking a shower or bath or using the sink as the 300,000,000 volts can travel through the plumbing. Just one lightning strike is 50,000 degrees F - hotter than the surface of the sun.
