Martinsville residents have three dates to watch as the city's draft comprehensive plan moves into its public-hearing stage.
The city lists a Planning Commission public hearing at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 19, 2026. A City Council public hearing and first reading are scheduled for 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 8, followed by a second reading at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 22.
The three-part Martinsville Momentum draft includes a community plan, a profile of the city and a summary of public engagement. The central plan lays out a vision, planning goals, action items, transportation priorities and a future land-use plan. Comprehensive plans guide later decisions on development rules, capital projects, transportation and resource protection; the listed hearings do not approve a specific development.
The city has posted all three draft sections online. Residents planning to attend should confirm the meeting location and agenda through the city's official calendar before traveling.
