Rockingham County Schools reports 4.7-point proficiency improvement

Rockingham County Schools says its overall grade-level proficiency improved 4.7 points in the district's 2025-26 testing and accountability results.

The district said the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction released the results Sept. 2. Rockingham County Schools shared initial highlights Sept. 3 and said almost every grade level and subgroup improved over the previous year, while also noting that more work remains.

A detailed testing report, including subgroup and subject-level information, is scheduled for the Board of Education's Oct. 27 meeting. The district also points families to its school-by-school infographic and the state accountability dashboard for additional detail.

The 4.7-point figure is a districtwide proficiency comparison; it is not a claim that every school or subject posted the same change.
