NCDOT sets April 27 start for Boone Road closure in Rockingham corridor

The North Carolina Department of Transportation says Boone Road in the Eden-Reidsville corridor is scheduled to close beginning April 27, 2026, as construction starts on a new roundabout at U.S. 311.

In a district update published April 16, 2026, NCDOT said the closure is tied to phased safety improvements and that detour routing will direct drivers around the active work zone.

The agency has framed the project as part of a longer-term operational upgrade intended to reduce crash risk and improve traffic flow through the intersection once complete.

For commuters traveling between Reidsville, Eden, and nearby school or work corridors, officials are urging advance route planning before the closure date to limit first-week disruptions.
