Rockingham issues wastewater discharge notice affecting Hogan's Creek basin

Rockingham County officials issued a wastewater discharge notification after an untreated release event at the Hogan’s Creek Lift Station in Madison, a corridor that serves residents across the Reidsville-area regional desk footprint.

In the county notice published April 23, officials estimated about 6,000 gallons were discharged on April 21, with roughly 1,000 gallons reaching surface waters in the Roanoke River Basin.

The county said the North Carolina Division of Water Resources was notified on April 22 and is reviewing the event, while local engineering and public utilities staff remain the listed contact for follow-up questions.

For communities in western Rockingham County and nearby downstream areas, the notice is an operational alert to watch for additional county updates on any corrective steps or monitoring outcomes.
