Boone Road closure phase now active in Rockingham traffic corridor

A key Boone Road segment in Rockingham County entered its closure phase April 27 as NCDOT contractors began roundabout construction at the Boone Road, Bridge Street, and Washington Street intersection near Eden.

NCDOT said the closure is expected to last about three months, with reopening targeted for late July, weather permitting. Through-traffic is being rerouted via Bridge Street, West Kings Highway, South Van Buren Road, West Stadium Drive, and West Meadow Road.

The agency also said additional closures will occur during later construction phases as the broader project advances toward a late-2027 completion target.

For commuters across the Reidsville-Eden corridor, the active detour period is now the main near-term transportation impact to monitor for travel-time shifts and route updates.
