Rockingham issues wastewater discharge notice tied to Hogan's Creek lift station

Rockingham County reported an untreated wastewater discharge at the Hogan's Creek Lift Station in Madison on April 21, with an estimated 6,000 gallons released during the incident.

The county notice said an estimated 1,000 gallons reached surface waters connected to Hogan's Creek in the Roanoke River Basin, which triggered required public notification procedures.

Officials said the N.C. Division of Water Resources was notified on April 22 and is reviewing the event. The release was issued under North Carolina statute requiring disclosure when specified discharge thresholds are met.

For Reidsville-corridor residents and downstream users, the update is primarily an awareness and monitoring notice while county and state review steps continue.
