REIDSVILLE — Rockingham County will offer free one-year rabies vaccinations for dogs and cats on Friday, Oct. 30, 2026, at the Rockingham County Animal Shelter, 250 Cherokee Camp Road, Reidsville.
The clinic is scheduled from 9 to 11:30 a.m. and again from 1 to 4:30 p.m. The county says the shelter is offering the clinic after an increase in rabies cases involving wildlife.
The county notice cites four confirmed or presumed wildlife cases since June: two foxes, a skunk and a raccoon. The encounters were reported in or around Stoneville, Stokesdale, Mayodan and Eden.
North Carolina law requires dogs, cats and ferrets to remain current on rabies vaccination. The county directs residents with questions about the clinic or unusual wildlife encounters to Animal Control at 336-634-3300. The official notice does not specify an appointment requirement, so residents should confirm any participation details before traveling.
