Roanoke voters face Oct. 23 registration and absentee-ballot deadline

ROANOKE — Roanoke voters have until Friday, Oct. 23, 2026, to register to vote or request an absentee ballot for the Nov. 3 general election, according to the City of Roanoke's official election notice.

Early voting runs through Saturday, Oct. 31. The city says absentee ballot mailings began Sept. 18. Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 3, and Valley Metro will be fare-free all day.

In-person early voting is available at the City of Roanoke Office of Voter Registration and Elections, 317 Kimball Ave. NE. The city says this year's ballot is two-sided: U.S. Senate, 6th Congressional District and Roanoke City Council candidates appear on the front, while three proposed Virginia constitutional amendments appear on the back.

The city notice links residents to Virginia election information for registration, absentee-ballot requests and polling-place details. It gives the deadline and early-voting location but does not list expanded office hours in the notice itself, so voters should check the linked election information before going.
