Patrick County residents have a chance Tuesday to ask questions about the next major Route 58 work zone near Meadows of Dan.
The Virginia Department of Transportation and design-build contractor Triton Construction are holding a Pardon Our Dust public information meeting from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, June 23, 2026, at the Meadows of Dan Elementary School gymnasium, 3003 Jeb Stuart Highway. VDOT says brief pre-recorded presentations will run at 4:15 p.m. and 5:15 p.m., with representatives available to answer questions.
The Vesta project will widen about 4.5 miles of Route 58 in Patrick County from two lanes to four lanes. The project begins near the Route 58 Business eastern intersection in Meadows of Dan and ends about a half-mile east of Route 610, Cloudbreak Road. VDOT says the existing Dan River bridge will be replaced with two new bridges, and the work adjoins the Route 58 Lover's Leap widening project already under construction.
- What to know: The meeting is focused on construction impacts and traffic management.
- Who is affected: Meadows of Dan residents, Route 58 drivers, freight traffic, tourism traffic, businesses and emergency-response routes.
- Backup date: If weather or another issue forces a change, VDOT lists Tuesday, June 30, at the same time and location.
Residents should use the meeting to ask about access, detours, work timing, safety controls and how the project will interact with the current Lover's Leap construction zone.
