WINSTON-SALEM — Winston-Salem State University’s Diggs Gallery is set to open “Before I Go,” a quilt and clay exhibition by Kimberley Pierce Cartwright, from Aug. 17 through Oct. 3.

WSSU lists Diggs Gallery at 335 Rams Lane on its Winston-Salem campus. Gallery hours are Tuesday through Saturday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The exhibition explores ideas of memory, process and what remains through textile and clay work.

An opening reception and artist talk are scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 22, from 3 to 6 p.m. WSSU asks guests to RSVP by Aug. 17 through the gallery’s registration link.

A hand-stitching quilting workshop is planned for Friday, Aug. 21, from 3 to 6 p.m. Registration is required; the workshop is limited to participants age 16 and older, suggests a $25 donation to support Diggs Gallery, and asks participants to bring scrap fabric and sharp scissors. Needles and thread will be provided.
