**Martinsville, VA - An early morning disturbance in Uptown Martinsville near Korrner Kitchen has led to a police response and subsequent injuries. According to an official release from the City of Martinsville, officers were dispatched to break up a fight on Main Street when an incident occurred involving both a police officer and a suspect. During the altercation, both individuals crashed through a plate glass window in the basement of the old Globemans building.**
Both the officer and the suspect sustained injuries and were treated at a local hospital before being released. The suspect involved in the incident has been identified as Michael Pritchett, who, along with another suspect, Coy Grant, is currently in custody at the city jail.
City officials clarified that the altercation did not originate from Korrner Kitchen, a popular local establishment, and confirmed that neither of the suspects were customers at the restaurant during the incident.
Initial scanner communications indicated a police call to respond to Korrner Kitchen on Main Street, which may have contributed to the confusion surrounding the event's location.
Tim Martin, the owner of Martins Plaza, reported being called out by police early Saturday morning to assess the situation in the area. Upon arrival, he observed approximately 150 people congregating on Church Street and Main Street, with many appearing to come from Korrner Kitchen, which was the only establishment open at that hour. Martin was shown the damage caused to the old Globemans building, specifically the shattered plate glass window at the basement level.
In a follow-up to the incident, Martin revealed that Rico Johnson, the owner of Korrner Kitchen, has agreed to cover the $3,000 repair cost for the damaged window. However, Martin stated that he has yet to receive payment for the repairs.
