**Chipotle to Open New Location in Martinsville, Virginia**
Martinsville, Virginia, is set to welcome a new Chipotle restaurant. The fast-casual dining establishment will be located in a standalone building across the street from The Village of Martinsville, right in front of the Dollar Tree store according to Lester Corporation executive Andrew Palmer.
Founded by Steve Ells on July 13, 1993, Chipotle Mexican Grill was one of the pioneering chains in the fast-casual restaurant category. Inspired by the vibrant taquerias and burrito shops in San Francisco's Mission District, Ells aimed to create a dining experience that showcased fresh ingredients served quickly.
The chain experienced significant growth after McDonald’s Corporation became a major investor in 1998. By the time McDonald’s fully divested from Chipotle in 2006, the restaurant had expanded to over 500 locations. Today, Chipotle boasts more than 2,000 restaurants globally and reported a net income of $475.6 million in 2015, employing over 45,000 staff members.
