*DANVILLE, Va.  – In a remarkable achievement, Danville has been ranked as the 8th best micropolitan area in the United States by Site Selection Magazine in its 2024 issue. This recognition marks a significant improvement from the city's previous ranking of 44th in 2023, reflecting the community's ongoing economic progress.*

A micropolitan area is defined as a city with a population between 10,000 and 50,000 residents. Danville's rise in the rankings is attributed to several key economic development announcements made last year, including the expansion of RBW EV Cars, EPL America, and a substantial $1.3 billion investment by Microporous, projected to create over 2,000 jobs in the region.

City Manager Ken Larking expressed pride in this recognition, stating, "We feel like we’ve been making achievements and strides for many years now. If you look at our recent history year after year, we continue to have new records set on our consumer-driven taxes, like sales tax, meals tax, and hotel tax. All of those things are signs that our economy is doing well."

This accolade not only highlights Danville's economic development efforts but also serves as a testament to the community's resilience and potential for future growth.
