A man who claimed to have killed his father was shot dead by deputies from the Botetourt County Sheriff’s Office, following a failed negotiation attempt. The incident occurred at a residence on High Ridge Circle after a 911 call was made by the suspect. Upon arrival, deputies found the armed suspect outside the residence and attempted to negotiate a peaceful surrender. However, the suspect disconnected the communication and pointed his firearm at the officers, prompting them to respond by shooting him. A deceased male was also found inside the residence. The Virginia State Police are conducting an independent investigation into the shooting.
