Lee Enterprises, a newspaper publisher, has recovered from a cybersecurity attack that began in February and cost the company $2 million in restoration costs. The attack, which involved unauthorized access to the company's network, resulted in encrypted applications and stolen files, causing delays in print edition deliveries, impaired customer access to accounts and subscription services, and delayed office functions. The incident also led to lower advertising and subscription revenue due to limited or unavailable products. Although the company's technical recovery is complete, the effects on its ability to bill customers and pay vendors will continue to impact its balance sheet through the end of the fiscal year. The majority of the restoration costs will be covered by insurance.
