Wind Advisory issued for Ashe, Watauga and Grayson counties

Weather alert: The National Weather Service in Blacksburg issued a Wind Advisory at 11:20 a.m. EDT Friday, October 9, for Ashe and Watauga counties in North Carolina and Grayson County in Virginia. The advisory is in effect from 5 p.m. EDT Saturday, October 10, through 11 a.m. EDT Sunday, October 11.

East winds of 15 to 25 mph are expected, with gusts of 45 to 50 mph. Isolated gusts up to 60 mph are possible along ridge lines above 3,500 feet.

The weather service said unsecured objects could be blown around, tree limbs could fall and a few power outages may occur. Driving may be difficult, especially for high-profile vehicles.

Residents should secure outdoor objects and use extra caution while driving during the advisory period.
