**Man Arrested for Threatening Trump Has Long Criminal History**
A 58-year-old man, Ryan Wesley Routh, has been arrested for allegedly pointing an AK-47 at former President Donald Trump during a golf outing at Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach, Florida. The incident, which is being investigated as a potential assassination attempt, occurred on Sunday afternoon when Secret Service agents responded to the threat by firing at Routh after observing the firearm aimed through a chain-link fence.
Routh, who resides in Hawaii, has a lengthy criminal record that dates back to the 1990s. Originally from North Carolina, his history includes multiple arrests for offenses such as simple drug possession, driving without a license, and operating a vehicle without insurance. Notably, the Greensboro News & Record reported a 2002 incident where Routh barricaded himself in his roofing company's office following a traffic stop that escalated into a standoff.
Authorities are continuing their investigation into this alarming episode, which raises significant concerns about security and threats against public figures.
