Danville library’s free Bookish Bags reach July 31 summer sign-up deadline

Danville families have through Friday, July 31, to register for the Danville Public Library’s free summer Bookish Bag program, which offers separate options for children in grades 2-4 and 5-8.

Each bag includes a book the participant keeps along with themed surprises. The city calendar says there is no charge, but registration is required and supplies are limited. The program is listed in the Children’s Area and runs from June 1 through July 31, 2026.

An adult registering a child must have a library card in good standing. Families can register online through the library’s event listing or call 434-799-5195 for assistance and current availability.

The program gives Danville readers a practical way to keep summer reading going as the school year approaches, while the two grade bands help families choose an age-appropriate option.
