On October 6, 2020 the council apologized for the city's role in the events of November 3, 1979.
Greensboro's City Council approved a resolution on October 6, 2020 apologizing for the 1979 anti-Klan rally shootings. It went further than the 2009 statement of regret. Five protesters had been killed in the attack, and police were later found liable in a civil case.
