Greensboro's Special Events Center is closing out a six-day international sports event with a local tourism and business impact.
Greensboro Complex says the 2026 World Ninja League Championships are running June 18-23, 2026, at the Special Events Center. The venue says the event features more than 2,900 athletes from 10 countries, with competitors ranging from age 6 to 40 and older.
The championships returned to Greensboro for the sixth consecutive year. Greensboro Complex says the opening ceremony was hosted June 17 by Akbar Gbaja-Biamila of NBC's American Ninja Warrior, and the Greensboro Area Convention and Visitors Bureau estimated the event would generate more than $6.8 million in regional economic impact.
- What to know: The final listed event day is Tuesday, June 23, with ticketing through Greensboro Complex.
- Who is affected: Families, visiting teams, hotels, restaurants, ride-share drivers, Gate City Boulevard traffic and nearby businesses.
- Why it matters: Youth and amateur sports events can fill hotel rooms and dining rooms even when they do not draw the same attention as major concert or arena dates.
