Greensboro Planning Department fee changes take effect for new fiscal year

Seven Greensboro Planning Department application fees increased July 1, 2026, following adoption of the city’s 2026-27 fiscal-year budget. The city said the revisions are primarily tied to the cost of public notification for hearings before the Board of Adjustment and Planning and Zoning Commission. The updated schedule lists a $450 fee for Board of Adjustment variance, special-exception, appeal and interpretation applications. Planning and Zoning Commission charges include $1,280 for rezoning or original-zoning requests covering less than 1 acre, $1,500 for requests from 1 to 4.9 acres and $1,715 for requests covering 5 acres or more. The schedule also lists $555 for original zoning associated with an annexation request for a single-family lot under 1 acre, $360 to appeal a Planning and Zoning Commission decision to City Council, $1,010 for an overlay-district request, $380 to petition to close or abandon a street or alley, $415 to change a street name and $950 for a text amendment.
