Winston-Salem lists Salem Lake fishing tournament and Night Paddles for July 31

Winston-Salem residents have two Salem Lake options Friday evening, July 31, with a fishing tournament and a separate paddle-under-the-stars program on the city calendar.

The Catfish Pier Tournament is scheduled for 6 to 11 p.m. at Salem Lake Park, 815 Salem Lake Road. The city lists entry at $30 per person, cash only, and says participants may fish with three rods plus one rod in reserve. The calendar gives 336-650-7677 as the contact number.

Night Paddles follows from 7:30 to 10 p.m. at the same Salem Lake address. Participants may bring a kayak or rent one from the marina. The city lists the personal-launch fee at $20 and kayak rental at $25; registration is required.

The programs overlap for part of the evening, so residents planning to attend should account for the separate start times, registration requirement and cash-only tournament entry. Weather, lake conditions or capacity could affect the programs, and the city calendar is the best place to check for updates before leaving.
