11:45 a.m. SUN - 8/16/26 - …TORNADOES 🌪️ POSSIBLE TODAY, TONIGHT… More in-depth information: patreon.com/jameysingleton

This is the 3km NAM most recent run of POTENTIAL spin through early evening. It is only a POTENTIAL scenario but I’m sharing it because the overnight runs of the same model also had very similar placement, from the Roanoke area into Franklin County and Southside.
It should be noted that the Storm Prediction Center also has a low end risk of a Tornado today into tonight for part of the area as well.
A stalled front is already causing showers and storms to spin in a broad sense this morning.
As we heat up today, very muggy and unstable air could combine with an outflow boundary from the leftover rain from late morning and act to concentrate rotation in updrafts in any storm(s) that form by 2-3 pm this afternoon.
Flash Flooding is already occurring in West Virginia into the Highlands and the risk of excessive rainfall is moderate in the mountains.
My latest Patreon post uses both satellite and water vapor imagery combined with model data to help you understand the reasons for the concern.

Stay weather aware! Be ready to act quickly if a Warning is issued!
I do my best to keep my weather forecasts free and they will remain that way on my social media in a generalized nature. But forecasts are only as good as the data that's used to make them, which costs lots of money each month.
At other TV stations and forecast outlets, it's no big deal, since the company picks up the tab.
But I forecast independently. I prefer to go my own way in forecasting and work for myself. This means I pay all of the radar, weather alerts, and model data bills out of my own pocket.
Patreon is simply a way to help offset my costs by giving you more detailed information that I don't post publicly. The basic tier is only $1/month - that's as cheap as the platform will let me price it.
You'll get model updates and high res maps...basically a "behind the scenes" of my forecast process, especially before severe weather threatens us x
I truly appreciate the follows on social media and the support online! Stay weather-aware!
