62°F in Elkin, NC - Are Happy Days Almost Here Again?

I paid $3.019 per gallon of gas with my Easy Pay discount at Circle K in Elkin, NC about 10 miles below the VA/NC border this morning. even the Murphy’s price across the road was $3.119. With the Walmart+ discount that would also be $3.019. Granted, North Carolina has recently repealed the 40+¢ per gallon gas tax, but even adding the tax back in, North Carolina is still way lower than what we are paying in Martinsville. Why do we pay so much here?
