A routine license check turned into a drug-and-gun investigation early Monday morning after Rockingham County deputies say they found approximately one pound of marijuana, pills, THC products and a stolen firearm in the possession of a 20-year-old Eden man.
The Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office said the encounter happened October 12 near Highway 68 and Lemons Loop in Stokesdale, where C-shift patrol deputies were conducting a license check.
Deputy D. Webb charged Quentin Daishawn McNebb, 20, of Eden, with felony possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana, felony possession of a stolen firearm and failing to heed a light or siren.
Authorities seized and impounded the vehicle McNebb was driving. The suspected illegal drugs, pills and firearm were collected as evidence.
The investigation into the stolen firearm remains ongoing, according to the sheriff’s office.
McNebb was taken before a magistrate, who set a $5,000 secured bond. He was placed in the Rockingham County Detention Facility and given a court date of October 19, 2026.
Sheriff Billy Parker praised Deputies D. Webb, K. Charles and A. Peters, along with Cpl. A. Vaughn and Sgt. W. Paschal, for their work in targeting illegal narcotics and firearms on the county’s highways and backroads.
One traffic stop, a laundry list of alleged contraband — and a stolen gun that investigators are still trying to trace.
