A routine traffic stop in Eden, North Carolina, turned into a drug arrest Thursday morning after deputies discovered methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia inside a vehicle.
According to Rockingham County Sheriff Billy Parker, the incident happened November 5, 2026, around 9:41 a.m., when Deputy J. Pulliam was patrolling the Riverside Circle area and spotted a vehicle displaying a lost or stolen North Carolina registration plate.
Deputy Pulliam stopped the vehicle in the parking lot of Hilltop Store and began an investigation with Corporal D. Guerra.
During the stop, K-9 Olga was deployed to conduct a sniff of the vehicle.
As a result of the investigation, deputies reportedly discovered that the passenger, identified as 31-year-old Heather Marie Ward, was in possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.
Ward was arrested and taken before a magistrate, where she was ordered held without bond. She was then placed in the Rockingham County Sheriff's Office Detention Facility.
Ward faces the following charges:
Felony Possession of a Controlled Substance (Methamphetamine)
Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
Sheriff Parker thanked the deputies involved, including J. Pulliam, Corporal D. Guerra, Detective N. Clifton, Deputy A. Peters, Deputy D. Hayes and K-9 Olga, for their work and continued efforts to combat illegal narcotics in Rockingham County.
Apparently, what started as a stop over a license plate ended with K-9 Olga getting called into action — and deputies making another drug arrest.
The case remains subject to the judicial process.
