Can You Identify This Person? ATM Skimmer Suspect Sought After Device Placed at Amherst County Gas Station

AMHERST COUNTY, Va. — Apparently, some people still think an ATM is an invitation to get creative — just not in a way that benefits the people using it.

The Amherst County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help identifying a person accused of placing a skimming device on an ATM at the Quickie Gas Stop near La Caretta.

According to deputies, the individual pictured entered the business and allegedly placed the device on the ATM on June 15, 2026.

If you have used that ATM since June 15, officials are urging you to contact your bank immediately and monitor your account for suspicious activity.

Investigators are asking anyone who recognizes the person or has information about the incident to contact Deputy Mann with the Amherst County Sheriff’s Office at 434-946-9300.

Anonymous tips can also be submitted through Central Virginia Crime Stoppers at 888-798-5900. Tips can be submitted online through P3 Tips, through the P3 mobile app, or by texting CVCS to 738477.

A cash reward of up to $1,000 may be available for information that leads to an arrest.

So, if this person looks familiar, now might be a good time to remember where you've seen them — because the ATM apparently remembers.
