Deputies call in K-9 Olga after discovering drug paraphernalia; suspect was already out on bond for DWI.
EDEN, N.C. — A traffic stop in Eden turned into a drug bust Monday, with deputies reporting the seizure of heroin and fentanyl and the arrest of a man who was already out on bond for driving while impaired.
According to the Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office, Deputy C. Parker conducted the traffic stop on October 12, 2026, near Buttercup Road and Riverside Circle.
After drug paraphernalia was located, deputies requested assistance from K-9 units. Deputy J. Pulliam and K-9 Olga arrived, and further investigation led deputies to discover illegal narcotics allegedly in the possession of Jarred Joseph Earles, 35, of Eden.
Earles was arrested and charged with:
Felony possession of a controlled substance — heroin
Felony possession of a controlled substance — fentanyl
Possession of drug paraphernalia
Following his arrest, Earles was taken before a magistrate and ordered held with no bond, according to the sheriff’s office.
Authorities also reported that Earles was already out on bond in connection with a separate driving while impaired (DWI) case. His court date for the new charges is scheduled for October 20, 2026.
The sheriff’s office credited Deputy Parker, Deputy Pulliam and K-9 Olga for their work during the stop, saying proactive patrols continue to play a role in efforts to remove illegal drugs from Rockingham County roads and communities.
Heroin and fentanyl are powerful opioids, and fentanyl poses a particularly serious risk because even small amounts can cause a fatal overdose.
For Earles, what began as a traffic stop has now resulted in three additional charges and a no-bond order, while the DWI case remains a separate matter.
