Firefighters Save Two Campers as Blaze Engulfs Two Others in Virginia
SHENANDOAH COUNTY, Va. — Firefighters arrived to find two campers fully engulfed in flames and two more campers dangerously close to becoming part of the fire Tuesday.
Crews with the Shenandoah Fire Company responded to a reported structure fire involving a camper. When the first units arrived, firefighters found two campers heavily involved with flames and two additional campers exposed to the fire.
Engine 702 immediately deployed a hand line and went to work, quickly knocking down the bulk of the fire.
Firefighters were able to save the two threatened campers, preventing the blaze from spreading further.
The Shenandoah Fire Company responded with 14 members.
Firefighters received assistance from the Stanley Volunteer Fire Department and Stanley Volunteer Rescue Squad.
The rapid response and aggressive attack kept the fire from claiming two additional campers.
Two campers were lost. Two more were in the line of fire — but firefighters got there before the flames could make it four.
